Revisualizing St. Peter's

Software: Rhino

Revisualizing St. Peter's is an analysis of architectural history.

St. Peter's Basilica in Vatican City, begun in 1506, is a world-renowned example of High Renaissance and Baroque architecture. Many key facets of its design (especially the dome) are credited to Michelangelo. However, numerous architects played a role in the project's development during its over century-long construction, including but not limited to Raphael, Antonio da Sangallo the Younger, and the building's original architect, Donato Bramante.

The drawings pictured below likely depict Bramante's original design for St. Peter's before he died and it was ultimately modified by subsequent architects. The goal of this project was to research these drawings (as well as the figures and historical context surrounding them) and create a 3D model of Bramante's original 42.5 meter-wide dome. Column capitals from dhyansharma and DoobBlood.
